Pradosham is kept on the trayodashi — the thirteenth tithi — of each fortnight, so like Ekadashi it comes twice a month. Its home is not the whole day but the pradosha kala, the stretch of twilight around sunset, when many devotees of Shiva turn to him: an abhishekam at the temple, a lamp before Nataraja, a few rounds of the panchakshari mantra, or simply a still moment as the light goes.

Tradition tells that at this hour Shiva danced between the horns of Nandi, pleased and quick to bless; temples across South India fill for it, and households keep it more simply at their own shrine. Some observe a fast from sunrise until the evening worship, others until moonrise, and many keep no fast at all — the observance lives in the twilight prayer, and every way of arriving at it is welcome.

The table lists every Pradosham for the next thirteen months. Each is named for its weekday when the weekday itself is dear to tradition — a Soma Pradosham on a Monday, a Shani Pradosham on a Saturday — a naming custom, never a rule about when to pray.
